URGENT! U-DREAM RECALL
“Health Canada is advising Canadians that it has tested several
U-Dream Lite and U-Dream Full Night herbal sleep-aid products and has found that they contain a substance similar to the prescription drug zopiclone, which may pose serious health risks.
Zopiclone is used to treat insomnia. Side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, memory loss, hallucinations and abnormal sleep behaviours while not fully awake including sleep driving (which can result in serious injuries).
Zopicline use may lead to dependence or abuse, and stopping the drug abruptly may cause withdrawal symptoms, including convulsions, tremor, muscle cramps, vomiting, sweating, hallucinations and difficulty sleeping.
In addition, zopiclone should not be used by pregnant or nursing women, children, or patients with breathing difficulties.
Health Canada tested the products after receiving complaints of unusual side effects—such as symptoms of withdrawal and dependence—suggesting that the products may contain a substance not listed on the product label.”

“Shocked”
“Devastated”
“Scared”
These are the comments I’m hearing from people who thought they were doing the right thing by taking a “natural” sleep aid. Now that it’s been pulled from stores, people are suddenly cut off, without adequate warning, and many are experiencing even worse insomnia. I’m as angry as you are.
Let’s be honest. There is no “magic” solution to insomnia. But the good news is that there IS a better way to regain your ability to sleep.
I HELP PEOPLE LEARN TO SLEEP NATURALLY
I’ve been there myself [they used to say Zopiclone is not addictive!] and would love to help you learn how to sleep better naturally and get back your quality of life. [Read more about my story].
CBT-I Insomnia therapy takes a few weeks. Research shows that it is safe, effective, and long-lasting. That’s why it’s considered the “gold standard” in insomnia treatment.
Research also shows that CBT-I (not your usual CBT) is an effective treatment, whether one continues sleep medication or not. Most people decide to come off sleeping pills at some point. (But please talk to your doctor about how to do this safely.)
“CBT is generally as effective as or more effective than hypnotics [sleeping pills] at improving sleep, and can be effective over an extended period of time without side-effects associated with hypnotics.” - American Academy of Sleep Medicine
PLEASE TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT HOW TO SAFELY STOP SLEEP MEDICATIONS
From the makers of Zopiclone:
“Once physical dependence has developed, abrupt termination of treatment will be accompanied by withdrawal symptoms.
Withdrawal symptoms, similar in character to those noted with barbiturates and alcohol (convulsions, tremor, abdominal and muscle cramps, vomiting, sweating, dysphoria, perceptual disturbances and insomnia) have occurred following abrupt discontinuation of benzodiazepines and benzodiazepine-like agents, including IMOVANE [Zopiclone].
The more severe symptoms are usually associated with higher dosages and longer usage, although patients given therapeutic dosages for as few as 1-2 weeks can also have withdrawal symptoms including daytime anxiety between nightly doses.
Consequently, abrupt discontinuation should be avoided and a gradual dosage tapering schedule is recommended in any patient taking the drug for more than a few weeks.”
